FCC Cybersecurity Pilot Program Checklist

K-12 schools and libraries across the United States have become prime targets for ransomware, phishing, and data theft. With limited resources, overextended IT staff, and aging infrastructure, education institutions face mounting cyber risks that can disrupt learning, compromise sensitive student data, and erode community trust.

To address these challenges, the FCC launched the Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program – a three-year, $200 million initiative that provides eligible organizations with funding to strengthen their cybersecurity posture. The program focuses on four key areas of protection: advanced firewalls, endpoint protection, identity and access security, and monitoring, detection, and response.

Participation in the Pilot Program offers schools and libraries a unique opportunity to access enterprise-grade controls, implement 24/7 monitoring and response capabilities, and demonstrate cyber resilience at a scale that was previously out of reach.
